In Junior School we value the important partnership between families and teachers particularly at this early stage of a child’s formal education, and offer a range of opportunities for parents to participate in the education of their children.
Learning
Junior School - Kindergarten to Year 2
The early school years at xxxÖ±²¥ provides a platform for young children to experience the joy of learning. Our program provides an educational experience that enables children to engage with and respond to the opportunities and challenges of a changing world while learning foundational skills in literacy and numeracy.
We believe that our nurturing environment coupled with a strong social skills program, broadens and enriches the ethical and spiritual development of each child. We want children to grow as confident individuals, to take appropriate and challenging risks, to develop the skills and passions of lifelong learners, and to view the world with self-confidence and curiosity.
Junior School - Year 3 to Year 5
These years are structured to help children become independent learners. In the earlier years students learned to read, while now they will read to learn. There is a transition from teacher led to independent learning. We hope that they will discover the joy of reading for themselves and the way that science and numbers are evident in, and an integral part of, our world.
Years 3 to 5 are all about students making connections in their learning. It is about exploring text at a deeper level. Through questioning, investigating and exploring they will continue to look at an integrated curriculum that will help them to make sense of the world around them, and further prepare them to be lifelong learners. The curriculum of the Junior School years is supported by an integrated, inquiry based approach to learning. It is underpinned by a rigorous Literacy and Mathematics program and Specialists’ lessons in Indonesian, French, Physical Education, Music and Christian Living.
