The Burgmann Wellbeing Model is the framework which provides us with a basis to support our practices and goals. The Christian life sits at the centre as the foundation upon which all else is built. Our practice is shaped by Christian virtue and our shared values which in turn equip us as we lead the next generation into the practice of those same virtues and values.

We are an Institutional Member of the Positive Education Schools Association (PESA), and each of the subschools follow a Positive Education approach. In the Early Childhood years, students learn about resilience, protective behaviours, respectful relationships and courage. The Junior School program builds on this and introduces the concept of character strengths and “The Five Ways to Wellbeing”. The Middle School approach further develops student understanding of character strengths as well as embedding the principles of positive psychology (viewed through a Christian lens) in student Pastoral Care and health programs. In Senior School, the Pastoral Care curriculum, Multi-Purpose Time and explicit positive psychology lessons equip students to live what they have learned about wellbeing in previous years. They engage in weekly wellbeing activities, mindful learning intentions, academic wellbeing tracking and the study of building a positive life.

The Wellbeing Team at Burgmann is supported by a team of Psychologists and Chaplains who work closely with teaching staff to provide an approach to wellbeing that is comprehensive, restorative, preparatory and hope filled.
